Here’s some info about Make-A-Wish Canada and how they transform the lives of children, one wish at a time…
With its headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona, the birth of Make-A-Wish was inspired by a 7-year-old boy with leukemia named Christopher, whose dream was to become a police officer. Before he passed away in 1980, Christopher’s wish was granted and he spent a day as a policeman, received a police uniform, rode in a police helicopter, and was sworn in as the first honorary Public Safety patrolman in state history.
Since its establishment in 1983 the Canadian registered charity Make-A-Wish Canada has been creating “life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.”1
According to research, “children who have wishes granted can build the physical and emotional strength they need to fight a critical illness.”2
Make-A-Wish Canada – How they help
Make-A-Wish Canada reports having granted more than 35,000 wishes across the country and “96% of families said the wish experience strengthened their families.”3
In addition, it was found that 71% of children who had their wish granted were convinced that their wish-fulfillment contributed to saving their life.

The smile hasn’t come off her face yet!”7 – Mother of Alexis, a child who experienced second and third degree burns to a large portion of her body, and spent months in hospital for treatment.

Each year, a portion of ALIGNED Insurance profits are donated to a Canadian charity that is nominated by an ALIGNED client. During the Giving Generously campaign, people vote by visiting web pages that ALIGNED builds to celebrate each charity and the great work they do.
Our annual Giving Generously donation is made to the registered Canadian charity that receives the most “votes” which are recorded as web page sessions.
