About Guelph-Wellington Women In Crisis – Helping Woman In Need
In 1977, eight women volunteered to staff a rape crisis line at the University of Guelph – and this is how Guelph-Wellington Women In Crisis began.
According to their 2015-2016 annual report, women’s need for help only continues to grow. Guelph-Wellington Women In Crisis supported 1,430 women and 69 children, they answered 3,106 crisis calls and hosted 207 public education events.

“Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis is a feminist community-based organization providing services to women and their children on woman abuse and sexual violence. We believe our services must be inclusive and equitable for all individuals accessing our programs while being responsive to issues of race, gender, religion, age, sexual orientation, socio-economic status and/or abilities.”1
In addition to their 24-hour crisis line, Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis connects women with shelter, transitional and housing support, family court assistance and much more. All of these services are delivered at no cost to the woman who seek support during times of personal crisis.
