Erin Varley recently joined our growing team. Erin Varley is an Assistant Advocate and reports to SVP & Team Leader Darcy Franko-Felice. She works closely with ALIGNED colleagues across Canada. 

Erin is proud to be part of the ALIGNED Insurance team. In her own words, here’s what Erin has to say about ALIGNED.

Q. Why did you join ALIGNED?

Erin: After reviewing ALIGNED’s 18 points of differentiation I knew Andrew was on to something great. Getting in with this company while it was still young and evolving was an opportunity that I simply couldn’t pass up!

Q. How did you first hear about ALIGNED?

Erin: Linkedin is where I keep connected with my colleagues and job opportunities. I was contacted by an Insurance Recruiter on Linkedin regarding a potential Assistant Advocate opportunity with ALIGNED. And after watching Andrew talk about Our Story on ALIGNED’s YouTube channel, I knew this brokerage would be a great fit for my next career step.

Q. In your opinion, what sets ALIGNED Insurance apart?

Erin: Having come from a large international brokerage, something that sets ALIGNED apart is the fact that the whole team really cares about both your personal and professional growth. You aren’t an employee number who’s clocking in and out. The team wants to know how you are doing, how your day went and people are always willing to hear your ideas as well as lend a hand when needed.

Q. Why did you choose an insurance career?

Erin: I graduated from Seneca College with a diploma in Travel & Tourism and a specialization in Hospitality.  It became abundantly clear this was not only an unstable industry but, depending on where you live, opportunities are limited. 

Insurance is a stable, recession proof industry that is essential for every industry. Best of all, there is no “typical day” in insurance – there are always learning opportunities and new challenges to solve!

Q. Tell us about your most recent professional designations.

Erin: I am currently working towards obtaining my Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker designation. A longer term goal of mine is to earn my CIP (Canadian Insurance Professional) and FCIP (Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional) designations.

Q. In your opinion, what’s the single most important service an insurance broker delivers to a client?

Erin: Claims support and advocacy! Claims are the basis of insurance, and, as your broker, it is our duty to make sure that your claim gets prompt attention and that payments are made fairly and swiftly so that you can return to business as usual.

Q. Which of ALIGNED’s 18 points of differentiation do you find the most personally meaningful and why?

Erin: Definitely 24/7 Electronic Access to Policy Documents. Easy and virtually instant access to documents is important. Especially in the event of a claim, your mind is going to be on other things. With this feature there is no need to be hunting through files and old emails for your insurance documents.

I also believe that 24/7 Claims Reporting is equally important. The sooner that a client can report their claim the sooner things can get back to normal.

Why our social responsibility program makes a difference to Assistant Advocate Courtney Tran: Above all, what stood out for me is ALIGNED’s Social Responsibility Program. Philanthropy is something I’ve always believed and participated in. I volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, even going all the way to Alabama to build homes. I’m an alumna of Laurier where fundraising for Cystic Fibrosis through Shinerama was second nature.
