Candace MacDonald recently joined our growing team. Candace is an Advocate and reports to SVP Darcy Franko-Felice. She works closely with ALIGNED colleagues across Canada.
Candace is proud to be part of the ALIGNED Insurance team. In her own words, here’s what Candace has to say about ALIGNED.
Q. Why did you join ALIGNED?
Candace: I was looking to join an organization that had a modern and forward-thinking approach to insurance. ALIGNED Insurance recognizes that people are looking for a different kind of broker experience and has consistently followed that vision since inception.
Q. How did you first hear about ALIGNED?
Candace: During my search for a new career opportunity, I came across ALIGNED Insurance. While reviewing the website, it quickly became clear to me that we share the same philosophies. I really liked how ALIGNED emphasizes the importance of delivering a different and better insurance experience to Canadian businesses.
Q. In your opinion, what sets ALIGNED Insurance apart?
Candace: I must say, it’s the people! Here at ALIGNED, everyone is team player. We share a lot of collective knowledge and the consistent drive for continuing education enables each one of us to stay ahead of emerging insurance trends. The importance of knowledge and education here at ALIGNED help us all deliver a better overall customer experience.
Q. Why did you choose an insurance career?
Candace: I wanted a career that allows you to constantly learn and grow. In the insurance industry, every day is a new challenge. Working as an insurance broker, I am able to help people continue to invest and grow their business by managing some of their financial risks.
Q. In your career to date, what are you most proud of?
Candace: One highlight of my professional career was being an insurance broker during the Alberta floods in June 2013. We all banded together to ensure that all clients got their claims taken care of. Seeing the relief that people felt when they found out that their loss was covered was very rewarding. The response of the insurance industry to this natural disaster really solidified the reasons why I got into the insurance industry.
Q. Tell us about your most recent professional designations.
Candace: My most recent designation was Canadian Risk Management (CRM), prior to that I obtained Canadian Insurance Professional (CIP) designation. My first introduction into insurance education was the Canadian Accredited Insurance broker (CAIB) followed by the Canadian Professional Insurance Professional (CPIB) designation.

Q. In your opinion, what’s the single most important service an insurance broker delivers to a client?
Candace: Definitely customer service! Helping people navigate the complexities of insurance and better understand their risks. Ultimately, helping people so that they can focus on what they do best – running their business.
Q. Which of ALIGNED’s 18 points of differentiation do you find the most personally meaningful and why?
Candace: I like that ALIGNED Insurance is focused on business insurance only. This enables brokers to focus on commercial risks and tailor their education and industry knowledge accordingly. When an ALIGNED client contacts us, they know they are speaking with a business insurance expert.
