As part of our commitment to give regularly, every month an ALIGNED Broker selects a Canadian charity of their choice and ALIGNED makes a donation to that organization on their behalf. In recognition of the great work they do, Deanne Rooth has selected the Lisaard House for the month of February, 2018.
More About Lisaard House
Lisaard House is a six-bed residential cancer hospice located in Cambridge, Ontario. Lisaard House was registered as a private foundation on August 1st, 1998 and opened its doors to its very first resident in July of 2000.
“Lisaard House provides quality palliative care in a home-like setting for adults diagnosed with a terminal illness, while supporting the individual and their family through the end of life journey. Lisaard House offers a tranquil alternative to hospitalization for patients.”
“Care is geared to each individual’s needs. The goal is to maintain the privacy and dignity of residents as well as to be as flexible with their care needs as possible in a shared home environment.”
A team of trained professionals works to deliver services that fulfill the mission of hospice care through providing comfort, education and support.
Volunteer support is a vital and integral part of maintaining the ongoing operation of the hospice. Some volunteers support residents during their final days. Others provide clerical, maintenance and general labour support. Over 200 volunteers already regularly support the organization.
