MPP Jagmeet Singh was elected in the riding of Bramalea-Gore-Malton in the 2011 provincial election. Prior to joining public office he was a defense lawyer practicing in the region of Peel. He has always been a strong voice for vulnerable people and vocal on a number of human rights issues.
As an MPP, Jagmeet has championed the demand for a province wide reduction of auto insurance rates and pushed for greater awareness regarding the precarious employment created by temporary job agencies.
He was listed as one of the Toronto Star’s Top 12 people to watch for 2012, named in the Queen’s Park Briefing 2013 as one Ontario’s 75 most powerful people, and featured in Toronto Life Magazine’s “Toronto’s 50 Most Influential People” as one of the 5 youngest rising stars.
Recently described as one of the more dashing public figures, MPP Singh was covered in Toronto Life’s 2013 stylebook as one of Toronto’s most stylish and as one of the 10 style icons presented in the 50th anniversary of Yorkdale Mall’s style-makers campaign.
