About Us | Why Stephanie Furtado Is Proud To Be An ALIGNED Assistant Advocate

Our focus on commercial insurance is one of the reasons why people choose to join the ALIGNED team across Canada. We recently welcomed a new assistant advocate to our team. Stephanie Furtado reports to our CEO Andrew Clark and works out of our new National Operations Centre in Cambridge, Ontario.
Stephanie recently shared some insights as to why she is proud to be part of the ALIGNED Insurance team. In her own words, here’s what Stephanie has to say about ALIGNED.
Q. Why did you join ALIGNED?
Stephanie: I wanted to be a part of something different and make a difference in people’s lives. Insurance is one of those necessities we need in life, it gives people piece of mind for those unforeseen circumstances. Reading Andrew’s story online showed me another side of the insurance industry. I am very excited to be part of ALIGNED and making a difference in the lives of Canadian business owners.
Q. How did you first hear about ALIGNED?
Stephanie: I first heard about ALIGNED through a job posting. The posting led me to google ALIGNED Insurance and learn so much more. I found a great deal of information on the ALIGNED website about the company – all of which made me want to be a part of the team.
Q. In your opinion, what sets ALIGNED Insurance apart?
Stephanie: I find at ALIGNED the customer is the focal point of everything. ALIGNED insurance advocates really care and aren’t just focused on process and numbers. I had never seen a company that lists 18 points of differentiation until I came to know ALIGNED Insurance.

Q. Why did you choose an insurance career?
Stephanie: Ultimately, I want to be challenged in my career. During my first interview with ALIGNED I was told that if I wanted change and a rapid pace, insurance was the field to be in. I quickly came to realize that things are never black and white in this industry and there are endless opportunities to learn and grow. The fact that things keep changing and is why I got into insurance as a career.
Q. Tell us about your most recent professional designations.
Stephanie: For almost a decade, I’ve working in the administrative field. I really love supporting others. It’s my chosen field and I’m building my career in administration. I enjoy helping people and being the support person that fellow co-workers and clients go to when they need assistance.
Q. Which of ALIGNED’s 18 points of differentiation do you find the most personally meaningful and why?
Stephanie: It’s hard to pick just two. If I must choose, I’d have to say Direct Access to ALIGNED Advocates and No Sales People. I think these two elements go hand in hand. They demonstrate that as an ALIGNED client you deal with one person from the start to the end and people are not focused on sales targets. You can feel confident your ALIGNED Advocate is focused on doing what is best for your business interests.
Q. In your career to date, what are you most proud of?
Stephanie: In a previous role, I worked for a large business corporation and was proud to lead the training of new administrative hires. I was in charge of processing all work instructions for the specific role as well as making sure that every new hire was trained so they could succeed in their role.
Q. In your opinion, what’s the most important service an insurance broker delivers to a client?
Stephanie: Product knowledge. Insurance plays a very important role in any successful business. As a business owner you need to know that your risks and exposures are fully covered. You also need the peace of mind to know that in the case of an accident or worse case scenario, your business will be covered when a and claim is filed.
At the end of the day, you need to know that your insurance advocate is an expert in business insurance and fully understands your unique risks. I believe the focus on ongoing training here at ALIGNED is very important because it ensures advocates have a solid understanding of all business insurance products.

Q. What makes ALIGNED Insurance so different?
Stephanie: Even though I’ve only been here for a short time, I already appreciate what a great company ALIGNED is. Everyone gets along and it’s obvious that advocates really care about their clients. I count myself lucky to be part of ALIGNED Insurance.
